EMINEM Live London Arena 2001
Eminem on stage at London Arena during the Anger Management Tour, 2001 - commissioned by The Face magazine to document him at the absolute height of his fame and infamy. I wanted to capture both the fans in the pit and Eminem himself. The London Arena exploded when he came on stage. He had arrived, and he was the media and every parent's worst nightmare. It seems funny now to think of it like that, but it's true - this was dangerous Eminem, the Slim Shady era, when he was the most controversial artist on the planet and a cultural lightning rod.
This is pre-9/11 summer 2001, the last gasp of 90s transgression culture before everything changed. London Arena was demolished in 2006 - the venue no longer exists. This moment, before rehab and respectability, can never be recreated. In 2026, this is historical documentation of a moral panic era.
